Sprinklers – Not Just for Lawns Anymore or Don’t Be a Hoser!

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

It’s amazing how many people think sprinkler systems are just for watering the lawn. There are so many more ways your sprinkler system can help you keep your yard looking nice.  Why should the grass get all the attention?  What about all of those beautifully landscaped areas next to the house?  When you go on vacation, do you come home to wilted landscape plants and thirsty bushes?  Or do you have to hire the neighbor kid to water them while you’re gone?  Many of our customers have struggled with these issues only to discover that they can have those areas easily incorporated into their existing sprinkler system.

We have added lines to include landscaped areas and large potted plants near entrances, on decks, patios and around pools.  You can even set it up to auto fill a fountain!  There are so many options to keep your yard (all of your yard) looking great with no hand watering maintenance.  Stop struggling to keep up with the watering and spend more time enjoying your yard!  We’ll be happy to come out and give you an estimate on installing a complete sprinkler system or adding on to your existing system.  So step away from that hose and give us a call.

Winterize Your Sprinkler System News Story

What happens if you forget to winterize your sprinkler system?  Well, if the winter was cold enough (and it usually is) the water that was left in the pipes will freeze and expand and many times, it will result in burst pipes.  The problem is that people don’t know it until they turn the system back on inthe spring.  Many times they end up with geysers in their yards.  (See the news story above of a manwho had just this problem).  If you have sprinkler system problems, call us for repairs.

Check out our $25 Sprinkler Startup Special when you purchase a 3-step maintenance plan.  That way, you’ll never have to worry about your sprinkler system again.  We’ll get it sarted in the spring, take care of any problems during sprinkler season and winterize it for the winter season.  This introductory offer is good for new customers only and expires May 31st.  See the coupon in Angie’s List.

Did You Remember Your garden hose??

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

Wes2It looks like we are going to get our first real cold spell of the season.  Did you remember to disconnect your garden hoses?  If left attached to your faucet the self draining feature of the faucet can’t operate and the potential for a frozen/broken water line goes way up.  If these freeze and break inside the house wall you can imagine the potential damage.  So the moral of the story is make sure you disconnect your garden hoses before we get a hard freeze.

Thanksgiving Challenge

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Wes2Instead of just counting your blessings over your thanksgiving meal, make it a point to count your blessing once each day of the holiday weekend. Try not to count the same things twice and you will see how truly blessed you are.
Happy Thanksgiving

I had a great trip last week to North Carolina State University to see their research facilities and visit the Bayer turf and ornamental research farm.  It’s interesting (in a geeky sort of way) to  see the various research studies.  Who would of thought of a product that acts like a sunscreen for turf?  It appears to postpost the onset of heat stress.  It is good to talk to the p.h.d.’s about problems that we face and help develop protocols so we can deliver consistant results.  You can see more pictures on our facebook page.  I’m not sure how to put a link to it here but I know you can get to it from our home page www.Heritagelawnskc.com
